About the Festival

D52 Drum and Percussion Festival from the past to the present!

D52 Drum and Percussion Festival is a musical and education activity which takes its name from Turkey’s most comprehensive drum method “D52: 52 Haftada Temel Davul Dersleri ” and aims to deliver the method’s mission to a more broad range of people organized by Gerçek Dorman in 2014.The festival’s aim is not only to bring drum and percussionists with their fans, drum, percussion and rhythm enthusiasts together, but also to provide an educational and improving environment between individuals without borders.Festival was planned to be free of charge and based on Ankara, in order to reach out many people from different backgrounds.

With the support and hospitality of METU Jazz Society, on 10-11-12 December 2014, festival was held in METU Architecture Amphitheater and METU Culture and Convention Center, for the first time and brought approximately 2500 art-lovers with Turkey’s the most prominent drummers, percussionists, and rhythm educators together.With the title of Turkey’s first drummer and percussionist meeting, music-lovers and drum enthusiasts found the opportunity to benefit from 20 drummers’ knowledge and advises with the help of the festival’s live performance and workshop programme lasting totally 26 hours in 3 days.

On 28-29-30 April 2016 for the second time the festival held with the support of Çankaya Municipality. In 3 days, with live performances, workshops and question-answer activities lasting totally 30 hours, our festival not only offered a comprehensive show, but also provided its participants the opportunity to benefit from the musicians’ experiences from all over the world and Turkey by hosting music-lovers coming from all over Turkey.At its second time, our festival reached more people and surprised them with street performances.
